Recently a national television celebrity sued in court saying he was unaware how selling his life insurance policy in the secondary market would affect him in the future. He sold a total of $15m insurance policy to a life settlement provider for $1.4m.
The celebrity said he was misled as to how the sale affected his future insurability. Now he has difficulty purchasing additional insurance for estate planning purposes because he has used up his capacity. This is disappointing and could have easily been avoided.
